The Service is one of Ireland's best live acts. Corks favourite band, say the folks at Coughlans Live, the award winning venue where The Service often perform. RTÉ's John Creedon cites them as his favourite band for a good night out, whether it be at IMRO Venue of the Year Mike the Pies, Listowel or any of the other great spots they play throughout Munster. In their first incarnation during the 1990s, The Sevice developed a great local reputation playing their own shows and supporting visiting ska legends The Specials, The Selecter and Bad Manners. Members went their separate ways for a while but ska is an infectious upbeat music and core members decided to bring back the band. They recruited experienced kindred spirits and the current 6 piece line-up consistently delivers great shows. The Service played the Electric Picnic 3 times, they stormed the Dublin Ska Festival in The Grand Social, and regularly secure prestigious local slots in Cork. They have been blown away by the reception they get from loyal fans, and are in constant demand for parties, festivals and gigs. The show gets people dancing, singing along and wanting more Looking forward to 2019 when The Service will celebrate their 25th anniversary, the set is getting an upgrade and the band is playing in new venues further afield. New tunes will soon be shared with audiences and theres some exciting shows to be revealed before the year is out. Hard-core ska fans love The Services take on classics from the 2 Tone era and its Jamaican roots while music lovers respond to the energy of the band, the irrisistable dance grooves and the well-known hits like the House of Fun, A Message to You Rudy and On My Radio. Catch them when you can, Corks favourite band, and quite possibly, Irelands too!
